UNIMA Australia is the Australian branch of UNIMA, the Union Internationale de la Marionnette. Formed in 1929 UNIMA is the longest running theatrical organisation in the world, and a member of the International Theatre Institute and UNESCO. UNIMA aims to bring together people from around the world to contribute to the development of the art of puppetry, and to use it in the pursuit of human values such as peace and mutual understanding.

UNIMA Australia acts as an advocate for puppetry practice in Australia, proving a point of contact between puppeteers, and a place for discussion about the art form. Throughout the year UNIMA supports workshops, festivals, and other events relevant to puppetry practice, and provides information to members about opportunities within Australia and the UNIMA International network.
