Have you ever wondered how a hand and rod puppet made from foam is made? Come along to this one day hands on online workshop with all materials provided, to make your very own UNIMA Australia Koala puppet.
Our instructor Katherine Hannaford has been building foam puppets for stage and television for 20 years. Trained originally by Marie Martine Ferrari, Katherine is now mentored by US based master puppet builders Pasha Romanowski (Project Puppet, Beyond the Sock), and BJ Guyer (The Muppets, Crank Yankers, Stan Winston School of Character Arts).
Each participant will be sent a kit of all the parts required to build the puppet. Participants will need to provide a small pair of sharp scissors, safety glasses, disposable gloves, small needle nosed pliers, hot glue gun, and hot glue sticks.
No previous experience building foam puppets is required. This workshop is ideal for puppeteers of foam puppets as you will learn the skills required to maintain your puppets, and for puppet builders curious to add another form of building to your repertoire. You do need to be comfortable using basic crafting materials such as hot glue, scissors, and hand sewing.
The workshop is limited to 10 participants. There will be a materials fee for this workshop.
