Island Puppetry Workshop (Queensland)
Early bird tickets are still available until August 31 for the upcoming “Island Puppetry Workshop” on Bribie Island (north of Brisbane, Queensland).
When: Saturday 28th October, 10am-4pm and Sunday 29th October, 10am-3pm.
Cost: EARLY BIRD TICKETS are $135 + Booking Fee. Lunch included both days.
Where: Island Dance (37-39 Benabrow Avenue, Bellara, Bribie Island, QLD 4507).
Learn the techniques that bring Muppet-style puppet characters to life in a two-day interactive workshop led by Brett Hansen and Elissa Jenkins from Larrikin Puppets.
This is a practical puppetry workshop for both adults and children aged 8 and over. Students will get a chance to practice puppetry techniques using real puppets.
Day 1: Puppetry for Stage, Saturday 28 October, 2017, 10am-4pm.
Day 2: Monitor Puppetry for Film & TV, Sunday 29 October, 2017, 10am-3pm.
Brett Hansen has a lifetime of puppetry experience and formal/advanced training at Beyond the Sock (Texas) under Jim Henson Company puppeteers Marty Robinson and Noel MacNeal, both known for their work on Sesame Street, The Muppets and Bear in the Big Blue House. Brett has also trained at The Puppet Kitchen (NYC) under Sesame Street’s Michael Schupbach. Brett’s most popular character from Larrikin Puppets is Troggg (with three Gs) the blue monster. Elissa Jenkins (Brett’s wife and business partner) has also trained at The Puppet Kitchen (NYC). She performs Flossy the pink monster from Larrikin Puppets, and assists with their many school and festival puppet shows and workshops around South-East Queensland.

Puppetry Master Class with Simon T. Rann from Company Philippe Genty – NSW Weekend Away

Simon T. Rann from the world-renowned Company Phillipe Genty in Europe is presenting a puppetry master class exploring the processes of creating visual theatre. This workshop will cover puppetry technique, an exploration and manipulation of objects and materials, and physical work.

Open to all performers from different disciplines: puppeteers, actors, dancers, performance artists, physical theatre practitioners… and to artists working in the related disciplines of puppet making, sculpting, costume design, etc.

The workshop will be in Mittagong, Southern Highlands NSW (just over an hour’s drive from Sydney). Numbers are limited.

This beautiful venue has full kitchen facilities and accommodation (for up to 10 people at $60/night). A great opportunity to spend a weekend away with colleagues!
